Farm-Driven Cuisine in 2015
Part of the fun and challenge of joining a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and eating seasonally is broadening our understanding of how we can use varying items of produce. For inspiration and to encourage creativity, we ask members of our community to tell us what they "see" in their Stone Barns CSA box. An Experimental Wheat Crop
Grain production is much less common in the Northeast than it was a century ago.We applaud the small and mid-size grain growers who are leading the way back to good grain production in the Northeast, such as Lakeview Organic Grain, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Here at Stone Barns, we are experimenting with growing grains such as wheat and polenta corn in rotations on our front pasture. In July, Stone Barns Center and Blue Hill at Stone Barns staff helped harvest the wheat. Learn more about these crops and their purpose in this slideshow.
